YEREVAN. – The best election laws will not function without the will to implement them, head of Prosperous Armenia faction Naira Zohrabyan said.

“Even if we set a machine reading the ID cards at all polling stations, if desired, election falsifiers will bypass this barrier,” the MP said.

As an additional control measure, Ms. Zohrabyan offered police to publish the lists of citizens having ID cards only, and those having both ID card and old-style passports.

“I do offer to come together in order to find a common solution that will increase trust in election process,” she added.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia has submitted a draft bill allowing to vote with passports and ID cards. The opposition stands against the bill noting that voting with ID card leaves a loophole for repeated voting.
