Opposition MP: Corrupted political culture in Armenia doesn’t allow to find new ombudsman
YEREVAN. - Corrupted political culture in Armenia doesn’t allow to find a new candidate for an ombudsman.
Naira Zohrabyan, leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) faction, said the aforementioned in the parliament today.
According to her, both the authorities and the opposition think that the ombudsman should be “theirs.” If a certain report reveals that he doesn’t serve the interests of the authorities, he is announced undesirable and unsuccessful. And if he criticizes the opposition regarding some issue, the latter wages a “Holy War” against him.
“It’s hard to find a man, who can actually stay neutral in this sense. As deputies, we must do our best not to turn the ombudsman into a scapegoat,” Zohrabyan said.
