NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Discusses the Report of the Human Rights Defender
On May 4 the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs moderated by Elinar Vardanyan held a discussion of the report of the RA Human Rights Defender “On the Activity of the RA Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) during 2014 and Violation of the Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in the Country” according to spheres.
Mrs Vardanyan noted that last year during the Ombudsman’s discussion the Committee proposed to discuss it, according to spheres, for more effective and beneficial cooperation.
At the sitting the representatives of the RA Office of Human Rights Defender made reports on the RA Ministry of Justice and Special Investigative Service.
The RA Deputy Ombudsman Tatevik Khachatryan noted in the annual report on the RA Ministry of Justice the positive move and shortcomings of the institution and indicated the amendments to a number of laws, through which a series of problems were solved.
Tatevik Khachatryan also touched upon the overloading, sanitary-hygienic and communal-everyday conditions, medical aid, the quality of food, the organization of the employment, leisure, appointment in the criminal-executive institutions, about which legislative problems were recorded.
The RA Deputy Justice Minister Arman Tatoyan touched upon the gaps mentioned in the report.
The Head of the Inspectorate of the Law-Established Supervising Authority of the RA Ministry of Justice Mikayel Minasyan has noted that there are problems in the report which are included through an unknown citizen’s call, which is not reliable.
The Deputy Ombudsman Armen Grigoryan made a report on the Special Investigative Service.
Touching upon the shortcomings in the report the Deputy Head of the RA Special Investigative Service Mushegh Babayan noted that the Service responded to all applications, providing the information received about the complaint
