GAGIK TSARUKYAN WAS AWARDED "BEST EUROPEAN OF THE YEAR"

On May 11 at "Armenia Mariott" hotel "Best European of the year" annual ceremony took place.
For active participatation and effective management in RA National Assembly standing committee on European integration, for promoting young politicians and the process of continuity and for distribution of European values in Armenian socio-political life PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan was awarded "Best European of the year 2009".
After ceremonial part of the event PAP president made a speech. "We have always been the holders of European values. Armenia was the first state accepting Christianity as a state religion and right now Christianity is one of the bases of European values. We are among the nations that hold and create European values. At the beginning of 20th century in many European states women didn't have the right to vote, while in parliament of Armenian first Republic women-deputies were acting",-mentioned Mr. Tsarukyan in his speech.
"Best European of the year" ceremony takes place nearly in all European states. This honorary award was given to Vaira Vike-Freiberga(president of Latvia), Boris Trajkovski(president of Macedonia) Viktor Yushchenko(President of Ukraine) president of European Commision Romano Prodi, foreign affairs minister of Iceland Jón Baldvin Hannibalsson, member of European Commision Mario Monti and etc.
