CONGRESS OF THE EASTERN PARTNERSHIP IN ARMENIA

By the invitation of the "Prosperous Armenia" party’s president the vice president of the International European Movement, State Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Charles Ferdinand Nothomb and Secretary General of the International European Movement Diogo Pinto with the three-day working visit is in Armenia. On 6th of September guests were hosted by the PAP president, honorary president of the European Movement of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan. Designating the importance taken by the Party towards integration into the European family PAP president noted the need to deepen economic, political, cultural and educational cooperation with EU.




Thanking for the warm welcome guests noted that they knew about the efforts personally of Gagik Tsarukyan and PAP, which are aimed at development of Armenia, assuring that on their part PAP has a serious partner on the whole European level. "Mr. Tsarukyan on behalf of the International European Movement we express our gratitude for the invitation, as well as for the support of the European Movement in Armenia. We know that you provide invaluable assistance in your country towards the establishment of the European movement and spread of European values. I hope that with your support the Congress to be held next year in Armenia will be unprecedented. "- said in his speech the vice president of the International European Movement.

During the visit there are scheduled meetings with a number of Armenian officials and representatives of civil society. On November 2011 the Congress of Eastern Partnership will be held in Yerevan, which will open up new benchmarks for Armenia's rapprochement with Europe. The Congress will be attended by about 150 delegates from all over Europe and the countries of eastern cooperation.


According to Charles Ferdinand Nothomb holding of the congress on communication of civil society with government is very relevant in the case of Armenia, it is important in the process of bonding relations with Europe, and in the context of conflict settlement in the region. Gagik Tsarukyan on regional developments, in particular settlement of Armenian-Turkish relations, stressed that the Armenian authorities have always acted from a position of improving relations, but that can not be said about Turkey. "There are states that are not able to move from words to deeds. Turkey is one of these states. The authorities of our country headed by the president always spoke in terms of the settlement of relations without preconditions, open borders and establishing diplomatic relations. Turkey, as you noticed, always offering preconditions and showing its destructive policy",- added PAP president.







In conclusion, Gagik Tsarukyan expressed readiness to support in preparation and organization of the Congress at the highest level.
