Armenia MP at OSCE PA: Karabakh must return to negotiating table
TBILISI. – The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) must return to the negotiating table.
Mikayel Melkumyan, member of the National Assembly of Armenia delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), stated the aforesaid at Tuesday’s plenary session of the 25th Annual Session of the OSCE PA, which is convened in Tbilisi, the Armenian News-NEWS.am special reporter informed from the capital city of Georgia.
In the Armenian MP’s words, Azerbaijan’s use of weapons and inhumane acts against the people of Artsakh need to be condemned.
Melkumyan also stressed that specific steps should be taken, and monitoring mechanisms need to be set up along the line of contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijan, to record ceasefire violations. He added that this shall be followed by accountability measures.
The Armenian lawmaker also expressed confidence that examples of injustice will be duly assessed.
He highlighted the respective integral criteria, and added that Azerbaijan’s attacks are doomed to failure.
And addressing to a Turkish delegate to the OSCE PA, who had noted that historians should deal with the Armenian Genocide issue, Mikayel Melkumyan recorded that the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire is a fact which needs no proof, and that numerous countries have recognized this tragedy.
