Head of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary faction Naira Zohrabyan proposes that all the parliamentary factions approve a joint statement on atrocities against Yezidis in northern Iraq, before April 24.

According to Ms Zohrabyan, this is the Armenian Parliament’s moral duty.

“As regards the recognition of the atrocities against Yezidis in the Ottoman Empire as genocide, this is a really serious problem and needs a fact-finding mission and debates. But I think that before April 24 all the parliamentary factions must make an assessment of the Islamic State’s actions against Yezidis in northern Iraq,” Ms Zohrabyan told Tert.am.

Addressing Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan, Ms Zohrabyan said that Armenia’s authorities supported the UN Security Council’s position on atrocities against Yezidis by the Islamic State.
