MP: I see wide opportunities for consensus on Armenian Electoral Code
YEREVAN. - The consensus on the main issues on the opposition’s agenda, which the authorities were not inclined to reach, seems to come true, Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan told Armenian News –NEWS.am, referring to the resumption of 4+4+4 format discussions on the draft Electoral Code.
“The proposal was 5+1: 5 was the oppositions’ proposal, 1 being ours, so that the voting be carried out by the common documents. This proposal seems to be accepted, although it was once said that one year was technically not enough to implement it,” Zohrabyan said.
Zohrabyan declined to open the brackets of the discussions, since the final accents have not yet been ascertained.
“I mentioned earlier that I’m not especially optimistic about the consensus. I thought that we should move forward with the consensus on the minimal issues, but I would like to say that I see wider consensus opportunities now and I think the discussions give me a chance to insist that there will be a consensus in the future.”
